Le Centerpiece's store is located at 6566 rue Waverly in Montreal's Mile-Ex, inside a former factory built in 1911. Its sawtooth roof, clerestory, massive wooden beams and original garage door are what drew Le Centerpiece to the space, and the design honours them with minimal intervention to the structure. The space was designed by Julia Johnson, Co-Founder and Creative Director, with spatial planning by Luciani Projects, in close collaboration with a small group of makers. It is divided into two rooms: the store, home to vintage furniture and design objects, and the Material Library.

Through the open garage doors, a custom circular desk, built in stained wood, greets you in the welcome area. Steel shelves by Atomic Soudure line the walls with design objects. Past them, a wooden shelving partition divides the entrance from the furniture floor, with open cubbies on one side and a verdigris face with a single niche on the other. Beyond it, the room was left deliberately open. The ceilings and the industrial structure stay exposed, and the furniture carries the space.

The Material Library is the enclosed room at the back, with curved plaster walls and shelving by Atomic Soudure and Sauvé Morrisette that houses samples of wood, wallpaper, cork, upholstery fabric, tile, marble and more. Two work desks are paired with vintage Lucite chairs by Leon Rosen for Pace Collection. The floor, designed in collaboration with Céragrès, sets travertine tiles in a checkerboard with offcuts of marble. A Bang & Olufsen sound system from Kébecson carries through both rooms, the final layer of a space made to inspire the mind and the senses.
